Are you an experienced Communications and Network Engineer looking to play a key role in the design, implementation and assurance of resilient communication networks? This is an opportunity to work in a technically demanding environment where proven expertise and the ability to validate technical decisions are essential. My client is seeking an individual with a strong track record in delivering IP‑based network solutions, alongside broad communications experience across both wired and wireless technologies.

The Communications and Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, validating and supporting secure and high‑availability communication networks. A significant part of the role involves evidencing technical understanding, validating designs, and ensuring communications integrity across complex environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing robust IP network solutions to meet operational and security requirements
  • Validating network designs and demonstrating technical understanding through documentation, testing and peer review
  • Supporting and integrating multiple communication technologies across enterprise and operational networks
  • Ensuring the integrity, resilience and security of communication systems
  • Troubleshooting complex network and communications issues across layered architectures
  • Working closely with stakeholders to translate operational requirements into effective technical solutions

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of implementing IP network solutions in live or operational environments

  • Ability to validate and evidence technical decisions through testing, documentation and technical assurance activities
  • Experience working with complex or mission‑critical communication networks

  • Wireless networking technologies, including enterprise Wi‑Fi solutions
  • Mobile communications such as 4G and 5G networks
  • RF and VHF communication systems
  • Secure communications and maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of data and voice traffic
