Overview

Are you an experienced Marine Engineer looking to take the next step in your career leading the design and integration of complex onboard systems across an innovative range of vessels? My client is offering a fantastic opportunity to join their growing engineering team in Hampshire, working on technically challenging projects that span from small craft to larger, high-performance vessels up to 24 metres.

The Role

As the Senior Marine Engineer you will combine technical expertise with hands-on design capability using Siemens NX, ensuring all systems are robust, manufacturable, and compliant with regulatory requirements. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers to deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop system specifications for mechanical and auxiliary systems including propulsion, bilge, fire, hydraulics, and HVAC.
  • Produce cable and piping routings within Siemens NX master GA models.
  • Generate and manage primary equipment lists, P&IDs, and supporting calculations in line with Class rules or first principles.
  • Provide input into MRP BOMs and maintain clear documentation and configuration control.
  • Liaise with shipyards and workshop teams to manage design updates, installations, and as-fitted documentation.
  • Support regulatory engagement and ensure compliance across all vessel systems.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in marine systems design and integration across multiple onboard systems.
  • Skilled in 3D modelling and systems design using Siemens NX.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and Class societies.
  • Comfortable working with production teams to implement and refine design changes.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Electrical design understanding.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter PDM and configuration control processes.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
