Position: Production and Process Engineer — Location: Fareham. Full time – Permanent role. Salary: £38,000 - £48,000.
Are you looking for a new role in Production engineering and looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? My client is seeking a talented Production and Process Engineer to join their growing technical team in Fareham. This is a key position within the business, acting as the link between Design, Engineering, and Production to ensure products are production-ready, processes are efficient, and manufacturing performance meets business objectives. The successful candidate will play a central role in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the manufacturing function — applying strong process knowledge, engineering understanding, and collaborative communication to enhance quality, consistency, and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the interface between Production and Engineering, managing production and process issues and communicating engineering changes effectively.
- Participate in product design reviews, assessing designs for manufacturability, readiness, and efficiency.
- Review and approve detailed designs for manufacturing, ensuring smooth transition from design to production.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Design, Systems Engineering, and Production to ensure integrated, optimised processes.
- Implement best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and innovative solutions to improve productivity and product quality.
- Conduct root cause analysis of production issues, identify preventative measures, and implement engineering or process improvements as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Production or Process Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of BOM management and MRP tools (e.g. 123).
- Demonstrated ability to implement and optimise production processes.
- Skilled in root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in maritime, automotive, or aerospace sectors.
- Familiarity with cell manufacturing environments.
- Lean Manufacturing certification.
- 3D CAD software proficiency.
- Experience with digital workshop management tools.
