Malcolm McKeon - Yacht Design is seeking a Yacht Designer to join its award-winning team in Lymington, UK. Malcolm McKeon has been a leading designer in the superyacht industry for over 40 years. His portfolio includes more than 200 sailing and motor yachts, 55 of them in excess of 30m in length.

Job description:

  • Contribute to the exterior and interior design of a new build superyacht focusing on the aesthetic aspects and 3D modelling of the design.
  • Produce high-quality exterior visuals.
  • Create and adapt designs, drawings and technical calculations and ensure they comply with current regulations and Clients’ requirements.
  • Work closely with a host of external parties and our internal team.

General requirements:

  • Experience in the design of large yachts preferred.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Good time management skills; delivering work on time and to a high standard.
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication skills.
  • Must work well within a varied team.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK/sponsorship not available.

Technical requirements:

  • Qualified in either transport and automotive or large yacht design.
  • Excellent AutoCAD and Rhino (or similar) modelling skills required.
  • Very good Adobe CS skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) would be beneficial.
  • Evidence on CV of technical detailing.
  • Understanding of relevant Flag and Class requirements for large yachts preferred.
  • Understanding of boatbuilding methods, materials, and requirements.

Please note: This is a full-time, studio-based position located in Lymington, Hampshire, UK. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our office as part of our collaborative design team. Remote or hybrid working arrangements are not available for this role. Start date: ASAP.
