My client is seeking a talented Systems Integration Engineer to play a key role in integrating and evaluating new systems, features and payloads across their advanced technology platforms. This position sits at the heart of the engineering function, connecting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring systems operate reliably, efficiently and at scale.

About the Role

The Systems Integration Engineer will lead technical workstreams across feasibility studies, solution architecture, system integration, testing and evaluation. You will work closely with the wider engineering and programme teams, ensuring new capabilities are robust, scalable and effectively integrated into my client’s systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diving into problems, building solutions, and owning integration tasks from concept through to operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement integration solutions connecting hardware, software and network components.
  • Analyse system requirements to identify integration needs, constraints and dependencies.
  • Develop system architectures, diagrams and documentation to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges, ensuring reliability and performance across systems.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including software developers, network engineers, mechanical design, electrical design, and maritime operations.
  • Produce and maintain integration specifications, wiring diagrams, interface documentation and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support test and evaluation activities including planning, execution, validation and performance tuning.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements around scalability, reliability, robustness and security.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree, HND or equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Proven experience in a technical engineering role.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach to testing, fault diagnosis and problem solving.
  • An understanding of Systems Thinking and how components interact within complex architectures.
  • Ability to work as part of a small, cross‑functional team and communicate effectively across disciplines.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Good record‑keeping, documentation discipline and configuration management awareness.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within the maritime, automotive or aerospace sectors.
  • Exposure to autonomous or robotic systems.
  • Experience in systems engineering, integration or verification & validation.
  • Knowledge of CAN, IP and serial data networks.
  • Knowledge of communication systems including RF (HF/VHF/UHF/MANET), 4G/5G and Satcom.
  • Basic electrical engineering skills (particularly 12/24V vehicle systems) and understanding of electrical safety.
