About the Role
As Night Porter, you will be responsible for ensuring the hotel operates safely, efficiently and seamlessly throughout the night.
Working closely with the Night Manager and Front Office team, you will provide exceptional guest service whilst supporting overnight operations, security, guest arrivals and departures, and maintaining the impeccable presentation of the hotel.
This is a varied role requiring professionalism, initiative and a genuine passion for hospitality. No two nights are ever the same.
- What You'll Be Doing
- Guest Experience
- Deliver a warm, genuine and personalised welcome to all guests arriving throughout the night.
- Assist with late check-ins and early departures, ensuring a smooth and memorable arrival and departure experience.
- Escort guests to their rooms where required and provide information about hotel facilities and local attractions.
- Handle guest luggage with exceptional care, including golfing equipment and valuable belongings.
- Deliver guest amenities, room service requests and special requests promptly and professionally.
- Anticipate guest needs and proactively resolve issues to create memorable experiences.
- Overnight Hotel Operations
- Support the Front Office team with overnight reception duties where required and over see the Night audit procedures.
- Carry out regular security patrols throughout the hotel and grounds.
- Ensure all public areas remain clean, safe and presentable throughout the night.
- Assist with overnight room moves, VIP arrivals and special events.
- Prepare conference and function areas for the following day's operations where required.
- Support departments across the hotel to ensure the property is fully prepared for the morning team.
- Security & Safety
- Act as one of the hotel's key overnight emergency contacts.
- Conduct scheduled security and fire safety checks in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor CCTV systems and investigate any security concerns.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations, guest incidents and fire alarms.
- Ensure all hotel entrances, exits and restricted access areas remain secure.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and accurately.
- Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and company security procedures.
- Hotel Standards
- Ensure all public spaces reflect the impeccable presentation expected of a luxury hotel.
- Complete overnight checklists accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding guests and hotel operations at all times.
- Assist with stock movement, deliveries and overnight operational requirements.
- Support the wider hotel team whenever required to ensure exceptional service delivery.
What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have
- Previous experience within hospitality, luxury hotels or customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, confident and professional approach.
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed.
- High levels of integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent time management and reliability.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and deal confidently with unexpected situations.
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous for valet parking duties but is not essential.
Experience with Opera Cloud or other hotel property management systems would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
