About Us

We are a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean - defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments, and industry, and champion science-based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency.

We are currently looking for a Policy & Advocacy Manager to join us on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week, for a fixed-term contract of up to 12 months, to cover a period of maternity leave.

The Role

As our Policy & Advocacy Manager, you will develop and deliver policy and advocacy work focused on reducing marine pollution, particularly PFAS, at regional, national, UK and international levels. Influencing government, industry and regulatory stakeholders, you will contribute to consultations and technical reports, and act as a key point of contact on pollution issues.

You will also provide expert support to colleagues across policy, public affairs, communications and fundraising, helping turn complex information into clear and compelling messages. Additionally, you will:

  • Represent the organisation at national and international forums
  • Act as a key contact for technical enquiries, including media requests
  • Support parliamentary briefings and public affairs activity

About You

To be considered as our Policy & Advocacy Manager, you will need:

  • Experience working effectively as part of a cross-organisational delivery team
  • Specialism and in-depth knowledge of sources, environmental impacts and policy solutions to address PFAS forever chemicals
  • A broad understanding of governmental processes and national, UK, European and international legislation on pollution issues
  • Working knowledge of data protection and handling confidential information
  • The ability to research and assimilate information and material from a diverse range of sources
  • The ability to liaise with high-level stakeholders
  • Strong data handling and analysis skills
