Job Description

Volunteer drivers are at the heart of our hospice community

Many people living with a terminal illness can feel isolated or face barriers that make it hard to attend appointments that support their wellbeing. Volunteer Drivers ensure people can access essential care and stay connected to services that matter.

As a volunteer driver, you\’re offering more than transport – you\’re providing reassurance, dignity, and a friendly presence during a vulnerable time.

Availability:

Weekdays

Time:

10am – 2pm or 12 noon – 4pm

Location:

Primarily Cardiff and the Vale Hospice

Criteria:

Minimum 18 years of age and willing to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check – Marie Curie will cover the cost for you.

Hold a UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

What you\’ll be part of:

  • Safely drive a person to and from an appointment at our Hospice
  • Assist with bags, walkers, and getting in/out of the vehicle
  • Offer friendly conversation and emotional support
  • Keep your vehicle clean and welcoming
  • Follow road safety and care guidelines
