Senior Healthcare Assistant – North Middlesex University Hospital
- Full‑time
- Compensation: GBP 24,937 – 26,598 per year
- Location: North Middlesex University Hospital, London
Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end‑of‑life charity, the largest non‑NHS provider of end‑of‑life care. We deliver community nursing and hospice care across the country. Our research pushes the boundaries of good end‑of‑life care, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone can live with maximum quality of life when facing a terminal illness.
Our current level of service reaches only about 10% of people at the end of life. One in four people with a terminal illness in the UK does not receive the care or support they deserve.
Through the next five years, our mission is to close this gap by:
- Growing and transforming our direct care and support
- Delivering more practical information and support
- Leading in shaping the end‑of‑life experience
Our new service, developed in collaboration with North Middlesex University Hospital, is seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant for the Emergency Department.
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients. Your responsibilities include monitoring skin integrity and personal hygiene, conducting nutrition assessments, and attending to comfort needs to promote rest and sleep. Key duties are:
- Assist the Clinical Nurse Specialist with assessments and patient care.
- Provide discharge‑planning support and liaise with community teams to facilitate prompt discharge home or to the preferred place of care.
- Deliver hands‑on personal care.
- Monitor and record observations.
- Provide emotional and practical support to patients and families.
You will collaborate with a Marie Curie Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the emergency department to deliver patient‑centred palliative and end‑of‑life care, ensuring care is provided in the preferred setting and supporting discharge planning. You will also liaise with community teams to facilitate discharges to patients’ preferred place of care.
Individuals with a demonstrated commitment to assisting others and relevant experience in healthcare are encouraged to apply.
