Our Edinburgh IPU is a leading provider of specialist care, dedicated to delivering exceptional support to individuals with complex health needs. Our team is composed of skilled professionals including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff who work collaboratively to deliver evidence-based care.
We are currently recruiting Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our compassionate and skilled team at the Edinburgh Marie Curie Hospice In-Patient Unit. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound impact in palliative care, supporting patients and their families during some of life’s most important moments.
Your role will include:
- Providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients admitted to the IPU.
- Monitoring, assessing, and documenting patient conditions and progress.
- Administering medication and treatments safely and accurately, in accordance with NMC guidelines and local policies.
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care plans.
- Promoting dignity, respect, and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Supporting patient and family education, advocacy, and involvement in care decisions.
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control.
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in palliative and end of life care.
- A Registered Nurse with current level 1 NMC registration.
- A holistic and person-centred approach to nursing practice.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- A genuine passion for delivering high-quality care to those at the end of life.
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 5 (aligned with AFC) £34,544- £43,039 pro rata per annum + enhancements.
Contract: 10 month Fixed term contract, 30 hours per week.
Based: Marie Curie Hospice, Frogston Road West, Edinburgh, EH10 7DR.
