Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life care, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they're likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
As a Clinical Lead, you will play a pivotal leadership role in overseeing and managing high-quality clinical services across designated services in the South-West of England. You will be accountable for ensuring services meet the needs of local communities while upholding professional standards, regulatory compliance, and organisational values. A key focus of the role is to lead the opening and seamless transition of new services, while maintaining excellence in existing operations. This role will require you to work closely with internal teams, families, funders, and regulators to drive service development and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and strategic leader with a strong background in palliative or complex care, capable of navigating change and fostering innovation. They will be responsible for workforce development across their services, supporting recruitment, retention, training, and performance management to ensure a skilled and motivated team. Additionally, they will take the lead in operationalising new contracts, ensuring services are launched effectively and aligned with organisational goals. This role demands adaptability, emotional intelligence, and a proactive approach to service transformation and team leadership.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: South West, England
Contract: Home working, with occasional travel to services within the South-West.
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000, plus enhancements and a whole range of Marie Curie benefits.
What we're looking for:
- Degree in a nursing or a relevant health and social care qualification
- Masters level degree in relevant subject or equivalent
- Current NMC registration
- Broad and extensive experience of caring for patients and families with complex care needs
- Proven experience of change management, innovation and service development
- Ability to demonstrate clinical leadership skills
- A full understanding of palliative care
- Good teaching and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills
- Excellent time management and ability to work on own initiative
