We are looking for a qualified Chef to join our team at our Hospice in Penarth on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and experienced Chef to deliver a high-quality, cost-effective catering service to our patients, visitors, volunteers, and staff. In this role, you will prepare and serve a variety of meals and snacks, ensuring dietary requirements and special requests are met with care and precision.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and planning menus.
- Being adaptable to provide meals at short notice when needed.
- Regularly visiting patients on the wards to gather feedback on the catering service and discuss individual preferences or special dietary needs.
- In the absence of the Head Chef, taking on a supervisory role to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the catering department.

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 3 (aligned with AFC) £24,433 - £26,060 per annum
Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (1 weekend in 3, Shift patterns: 6:30am - 2:30pm and 11:30am - 7pm)
Based: Onsite Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth

What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in catering, showcasing your culinary skills and expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff effectively, ensuring smooth operations.
- City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2, or a Level 2 NVQ in Food Production and Cooking, or an equivalent qualification.
- Basic food hygiene certificate to maintain high standards of food safety.
- Creative flair in developing and planning menus that delight our patients, families and staff.
- Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with internal staff members, patients and external visitors.
- Collaborative and flexible team player with the ability to work well within a supportive environment.
