We're looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team in the Cardiff Community providing compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care.

Main duties of the job:

  • As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team delivering holistic, person-centred end-of-life care.
  • Working under the guidance of registered professionals, you'll support patients and those important to them with personal care, symptom management, and emotional support.
  • You'll contribute to care planning, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe and dignified environment.
  • This is a compassionate and hands-on role where you'll make a meaningful difference in people’s lives during their final stages, while also supporting their loved ones through grief and bereavement.

Job details:

  • Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £24,833 pro-rata per annum + enhancements.
  • Contract: Permanent, both full-time and part-time available.
  • Based: Community-based, Cardiff.

What we’re looking for:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification (e.g. NCFE, BTEC), plus functional skills in numeracy and literacy at Level 2
  • At least 6 months of recent care delivery experience in a health or social care setting, including caring for dying patients
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to hold person-centred, empathetic conversations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care, including holistic care planning and symptom management
  • Ability to plan and prioritise care, respond to changes in patient condition, and escalate appropriately
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
