Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end‑of‑life charity. We are the largest non‑NHS provider of end‑of‑life care in the UK, delivering community nursing and hospice care throughout the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.
We are currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join our Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in the Vale of York covering Selby, Tadcaster, York and surrounding areas.
- Hours: Part‑time – 36 hours, various 9‑hour night shifts (10 pm – 7 am) available.
- Salary: AFC Band 2 £24,465 per annum + enhancements (pro rata).

As a Healthcare Assistant with the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service, you’ll be supporting patients and families in their time of greatest need. We provide free specialist palliative care and support to patients with life‑limiting illness while offering vital emotional support for their families. With experience of end‑of‑life care, you’re ready and able to make a real difference.
Your duties will include helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications, keeping detailed records and providing emotional support to the patient and their families.
Qualifications:
- UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insurance
- Relevant community experience
- S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma
- Emotional strength and the ability to work independently
- Recent experience caring for people with life‑limiting illness or palliative care needs
