Overview

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Middlesbrough.

Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Assistant you will provide essential support to patients and their families during their most challenging times. You will work as part of a team delivering free specialist palliative care and emotional support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses, while caring for patients in their own homes. Working independently, you will use your initiative in accordance with the patient s established care plan. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, administering medications, maintaining detailed records, and offering emotional support to both patients and their families.

What we’re looking for

  • S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma
  • Relevant palliative community experience
  • Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own; training and support will be provided
  • Recent experience in providing care for people with life-limiting illness or palliative care needs
  • UK driver\’s license with access to a car and business insurance is essential; travel up to a 25 mile radius from home

Requirements and terms

  • Based in Middlesbrough Community
  • Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week – nights 10pm–7am
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, AFC Band 2 £24,465 pro rata per annum + enhancements
  • Closing date: 29 September 2025
