Healthcare Assistant – Middlesbrough role at Marie Curie UK. Based at Middlesbrough Community.
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC Band 2 £24,465 pro rata per annum + enhancements
Hours/Contract: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week – Nights 10pm – 7am

As a Healthcare Assistant with the Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Middlesbrough, you will be providing essential support to patients and their families during their most challenging times. Our team offers free specialist palliative care and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses, while also providing crucial emotional support to their loved ones.
With your experience in End of Life care, you are well-equipped to make a significant impact. Our approach is centred on one-to-one care, ensuring that you will have ample opportunities for meaningful interactions with patients and their families in their own homes. Working independently, you will be able to use your initiative in accordance with the patient\\\’s established care plan. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, administering medications, maintaining detailed records, and offering emotional support to both patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one care to patients in their own homes as part of the Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service
- Assist with hygiene needs, monitor symptoms, and administer medications as per care plans
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of care provided
- Offer emotional and practical support to patients and their families
Qualifications
- S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma
- Relevant palliative care experience in the community
- Emotional strength and the ability to work independently; training and support provided
- Recent experience caring for people with life-limiting illness or palliative care needs
- UK driver with access to a car and business insurance (travel up to 25 miles from home)
