Overview
We’re looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team in Carmarthenshire providing compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care during day shifts and night shifts.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team delivering holistic, person-centred end of life care. Working under the guidance of registered professionals, you’ll support patients and those important to them with personal care, symptom management, and emotional support. You’ll contribute to care planning, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe and dignified environment. This is a compassionate and hands-on role where you’ll make a meaningful difference in people’s lives during their final stages, while also supporting their loved ones through grief and bereavement.

We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, and providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our research and campaigns aim to improve quality of life for people nearing the end of life.
Salary
Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £24,833 pro rata per annum + enhancements
Contract
Permanent. We are hiring for day and night shifts: one full-time (37.5 hours/week) and one part-time (30 hours/week) for day shifts; and two part-time roles for night shifts (27 and 36 hours/week).

What we’re looking for
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification (e.g. NCFE, BTEC), plus functional skills in numeracy and literacy at Level 2
- At least 6 months of recent care delivery experience in a health or social care setting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to hold person-centred, empathetic conversations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care, including holistic care planning and symptom management
- Ability to plan and prioritise care, respond to changes in patient condition, and escalate appropriately
- A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
