We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Sous Chef to join our team at Maricarmen Tapas Bar. This full-time, on-site role is based in Manchester and involves supporting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and cooking authentic Spanish cuisine
- Managing kitchen staff
- Maintaining food quality
- Ordering stock and managing inventory to hit GP targets
- Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations (HACCP/COSHH)
- Assisting with menu development
- Training kitchen staff
- Collaborating with the front-of-house team to deliver a memorable dining experience
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in culinary techniques, Spanish cuisine preparation, and high-quality food presentation
- Proven experience in menu development, inventory management, ordering, and stock control
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 packages (Word, Excel) for kitchen admin, scheduling, and stock sheets
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills to motivate a busy kitchen brigade
- Commitment to maintaining the highest health, safety, and food hygiene standards
- Passion for Spanish culture, traditional tapas, and creating authentic dining experiences
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Culinary education and prior experience in a similar role (Senior Chef de Partie or Sous Chef), preferably within Spanish or Mediterranean cuisine, are highly desirable
