About the Role As Global Indirect Tax Manager, you'll lead and own MARI's global indirect tax function at a pivotal moment in the company's growth. Working directly with business unit leaders across EMEA, APAC, and North America, you'll manage risk, ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and provide the kind of clear, strategic guidance that allows the business to move quickly and confidently. This isn’t a back-office compliance role — it’s a seat at the table with real commercial influence. You'll shape how MARI approaches indirect tax globally, build relationships across finance, operations, and legal, and help the business navigate complexity without losing pace. If you're equally comfortable setting the strategy and rolling up your sleeves to execute it, this role was built for you.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Indirect tax strategy across all lines of business is well-managed, well-documented, and aligned to MARI's global growth.
  • Tax risks are identified early and mitigation solutions are in place before they become issues.
  • VAT/GST, sales tax, 1099 & 1042 reporting, and other indirect and informational tax returns across multiple jurisdictions are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Changes in tax legislation are monitored and translated into clear, actionable guidance for business leads.
  • Indirect tax audits are handled efficiently, with strong oversight and minimal disruption to the business.
  • Business teams feel supported — day-to-day indirect tax questions are answered clearly and quickly.
  • Contracts are reviewed and indirect tax risks are flagged and addressed before they become problems.
  • Finance and operations teams have a trusted indirect tax partner who makes their work easier.
  • Tax technology initiatives (including SAP S4/HANA and automation tools) are actively supported and advanced.
  • Relevant staff are equipped with the indirect tax knowledge they need through regular, practical training.

What You'll Own:

  • Lead global indirect tax strategy across multiple lines of business, providing guidance and direction to business partners.
  • Identify indirect tax risks and develop practical mitigation solutions.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of accurate, timely indirect tax returns — including VAT/GST, sales tax, 1099 & 1042 reporting — across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation, assess their impact, and provide clear direction to business leads.
  • Oversee and support indirect tax audits across all regions.
  • Serve as the go-to resource for business teams on day-to-day indirect tax questions.
  • Review business contracts and provide guidance on indirect tax risks and recommendations.
  • Partner with finance and operations teams to provide integrated indirect tax support.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors in relevant jurisdictions as needed.
  • Support technology initiatives including SAP S4/HANA, tax technology, and automation/AI tools.
  • Develop and deliver indirect tax training for relevant staff across the business.
  • Some travel may be required.

What You Bring:

  • 7-10 years of experience in indirect tax across multiple jurisdictions in EMEA, APAC, & US.
  • Strong indirect tax research skills, with the ability to apply practical, real world scenarios and business decisions.
  • Proactive self-starter with attention to detail, high level of integrity and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex indirect tax issues and collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
  • Strong international VAT/GST experience with a solid US sales & use understanding.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in multinational corporations or top-tier global advisory firms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Benefits and Perks:

  • Hybrid work environment (blend of in-office and at-home days).
  • Pension match and access to a bespoke pension scheme.
