Mari is seeking a Director of Corporate Communications to lead strategic and operational communications for the company's portfolio of major live events. This role will focus on safeguarding and enhancing the company's reputation, with a particular emphasis on crisis preparedness, rapid response, and on-the-ground event communications.

The successful candidate will combine high-level strategic oversight with hands-on delivery during critical periods, working closely with senior leadership, event operations, legal teams, and external agencies. They will be expected to manage complex, fast-moving situations with clarity and authority. The position requires flexibility to be on call during evenings, weekends and event periods, as well as rapid response to emerging issues. The individual must be highly collaborative, decisive under pressure, and solutions-focused.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shape and deliver a proactive corporate communications strategy aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Develop and execute PR/communications plans announcing key business developments, including wins, appointments, promotions, investments and acquisitions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, industry bodies, partners and stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with external PR agencies, crisis consultancies and other third-party providers to ensure effective integration with in-house teams.
  • Develop messaging for corporate announcements, issue management and industry positioning.
Crisis & Incident Response
  • Develop and execute crisis communications strategies, protocols and rapid response plans for the company's live events portfolio and corporate activities.
  • Act as a senior point of contact during reputational issues or operational incidents, providing on-site leadership and on-call availability during critical periods.
  • Oversee and coordinate real-time response efforts across internal teams, event operations and external agencies, ensuring accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Advise senior executives and spokespersons on sensitive media handling, including scenario planning and rehearsals.
  • Partner closely with event operations teams to identify and mitigate potential communications risks before they escalate.
Collaboration & Best Practice
  • Contribute to the development of best-practice processes and resources across the communications function, working in close collaboration with the senior team and peers.
Key Qualifications
  • 8–10 years' experience in corporate communications with a strong emphasis on crisis management and live event environments.
  • Demonstrable track record managing high-stakes, high-pressure situations with calm and authority.
  • Experience in both strategic oversight and on-ground communications delivery during major events.
  • Strong experience managing external agencies and ensuring outputs meet organisational objectives and brand standards.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with national and international media, and handle sensitive or hostile enquiries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to diverse audiences and situations.
  • Highly organised, with strong judgement and ability to prioritise in fast-moving, complex environments.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours and be on call during high-risk periods or live events.
  • Familiarity with sectors such as entertainment, arts, sports or festivals is desirable.
