Our divisions:

Margetts Fund Management: Providing investment management to the funds operated by Margetts, including our core risk-rated multi-manager investment funds. These funds can be used independently or combined to meet investors’ individual needs and objectives.

MGTS: We offer governance and administration services as an independent authorised corporate director (ACD) or third-party administrator. Our responsibilities include product design and governance, oversight of investment management, maintaining a register of investors, settlement of client money, arranging safe custody, and valuing assets held by the funds.

The Role:

Margetts Fund Management, are excited to announce an opportunity for a System Tester who is eager to design a testing framework within our development and functional teams. By implementing best practices and collaborating with colleagues, you will help deliver an end-to-end process that enhances development quality and productivity.

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of our software systems through rigorous testing processes. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Your responsibilities will include conducting automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose, and that any bugs or issues are removed before deployment to everyday users. You will be expected to drive and implement a comprehensive test strategy using appropriate testing tools and techniques while introducing new practices and techniques to the Software Lifecycle (SLC) that conform to agreed standards.

The development of proprietary systems, through an in-house team, has played a significant role in our firm\’s success. These applications are built on Microsoft SQL Server for ELT of significant data from various sources into meaningful information used across the business. The front-end application is developed using PHP within a Laravel framework.

As a System Tester, you will work under the Senior Operations Developer as a part of the Development team, ensuring that all aspects of testing are covered and the software meets quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain test plans, scripts, and automated tests.
• Review feature requirements and provide feedback.
• Facilitate smooth project delivery and participate in agile processes.
• Contribute to internal process improvements and develop strong working relationships.
• Define and execute various types of testing (functional, integration, regression, performance, etc.).
• Perform manual and automated testing, document results, and report defects.
• Validate bug fixes, perform regression testing, and ensure software meets quality standards.
• Participate in design and requirement review meetings.
• Conduct post-release testing and identify areas for improvement.
• Stay updated with the latest testing tools and methodologies.
• Meet with system users, work with developers, and carry out various testing types (stress, performance, functional, scalability).
• Write and execute test scripts, run tests in different environments, and write bug reports.
• Provide quality assurance, objective feedback, and troubleshoot issues.
• Design tests to mitigate risk and present findings to teams.
• Work closely with BSAs and developers to understand system requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Identify testing scope, apply test techniques, and ensure comprehensive test strategies.
• Create and maintain test data, perform exploratory/manual testing, and check outputs for system effectiveness.

Experience

• 3+ years of test experience, including automated and manual Web Application and Web API testing (Laravel).
• Experience in test frameworks and scripting automated functional tests.
• Experience working in an agile environment with iterations less than 4 weeks.
• Experience working on user stories and defining clear acceptance criteria.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of test methodologies, tools, and automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in writing unit tests, integration tests, and using API testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, or Rest Assured.
• Understanding of test data management techniques and non-functional testing (performance, load, stress).
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git, SVN, or Mercurial.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, adapt to changing requirements, and manage own time and workload.
• Good team player with the ability to interact and collaborate with various disciplines.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of SQL for database queries, data validation, and backend testing.
• Knowledge of security testing practices.
• Understanding of IDEs, code repositories, continuous integration practices, and object-oriented programming.
