Established in Ashford in 1992, Margetts & Associates Vets is a proudly independent, family-run practice with a very loyal client base and a variety of cases. We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with both our clients and their pets, treating every animal as we would expect our own to be treated.

Being an independent practice allows us to maintain a stable and consistent team of experienced vets, nurses and receptionists who work together to create a friendly, relaxed and caring environment for both clients and colleagues. Our highly skilled veterinary surgeons and nurses are dedicated to providing excellent standards of care, offering a wide range of services from routine procedures to advanced diagnostics.

We are expanding our very friendly, family team and have both full-time and part-time positions available. We are looking for an experienced small animal vet who has completed their VetGDP and is confident in routine consultations and surgery.

We offer complete clinical freedom in our well-equipped surgery, with the full support of our experienced and long-standing team members, allowing our vets to focus on providing the best care for their patients. Our Ashford practice has been in its current modern, spacious, purpose-built premises since 2009. The surgery includes:

  • A large air‑conditioned waiting room
  • Three consult rooms
  • In‑house laboratory
  • Pharmacy
  • Isolation facilities
  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • A sterile operating theatre
  • Second operating theatre
  • A dedicated diagnostic imaging room

As a practice, we are offering:

  • Full‑time position – a 4‑day week
  • Part‑time position – flexible hours would be highly negotiable
  • Salary of £45,000 - £75,000 depending on experience (pro‑rata for Part‑Time position)
  • 20‑minute consultations
  • 1 in 4 weekends (open until 1 pm but both paid as full days)
  • 20 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • CPD encouraged
  • No on‑call or out‑of‑hours (emergencies are covered by Vets Now)
  • Ample staff parking
  • Absolutely no financial targets
  • Pension included

The practice is located within easy access of Ashford town centre. With the high‑speed train to London taking just 37 minutes, and the beautiful Kent coastline close by, it offers an excellent work‑life balance. We are surrounded by lots of greenery, and with a nearby lake within walking distance, it makes for an attractive place to work.
