My client is a major engineering company based in Renfrewshire, they are looking to recruit a buyer to head up their purchasing function. You will head up a small team, working with engineers and the commercial team to ensure the best value for the purchase of a range of engineering materials and services across the group. The role is pivotal across the company with purchasing budgets going to several million pounds.
You will be reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and BOMs to ensure accurate sourcing, leading contractual and price negotiations with potential suppliers. There will be an ongoing review of supply chains and leading continuous improvement initiatives to ensure best value for money. You will also assist the bids and proposals team in providing costings.
It is anticipated you will come from a manufacturing/engineering environment with an ability to interpret technical documents. You should have 5 years purchasing experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
