Trainee Assistant Practice Manager – Healthcare
Marfleet Group Practice is looking for a Trainee Assistant Practice Manager to learn all aspects of the day to day running of a busy GP surgery.
Main duties of the job
- Support the Operations Lead/Senior Advisor in staff management, ensuring adherence to MRP policies and procedures.
- Organise recruitment, induction, and training for staff.
- Track and report progress on targets, including QOF, enhanced services, and work towards CQC compliance.
- Identify underperformance and implement improvement plans in coordination with GPs and the Practice Manager.
- Stay updated on NHS/ICB changes and identify opportunities or risks.
- Ensure compliance with NHS patient care obligations.
- Maintain up-to-date HR documentation (e.g., job descriptions, policies, contracts).

Job responsibilities
To demonstrate a competent level of inter-personal skills whenproviding information of a non-clinical nature to staff, carers,patients/external agencies, maintaining the Practice standards of customerservice.
To understand security/health and safety processes andprocedures, as required.
To make judgements in resolving problems of a patient oradministrative nature within pre-defined limits, dealing with issues first handreferring complex nature to Operations Lead.
To deal with all enquiries effectively and responsively,deciding upon appropriate follow-up action.
To plan and organise own day to day tasks within the parametersset out by supervising staff.
May assist with the arrangement of meetings, may be required totake notes of a non-complex nature.
Knowledge of the Practices policies and procedures eg Fire,Health and Safety, Infection Control and work with the Infection Control Lead, Information Governance and Confidentiality.
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
To maintain staff records both manually and electronically,producing routine information as required.
It is the responsibility of each member of staff to maintainconfidentiality, in line with the Practices Code of Conduct.
Staff must be aware of and adhereto the provisions of current Health and Safety legislation and to ensure theirown safety and the safety of colleagues, patients, and visitors. Staff must beaware of the action to be taken in the event of fire and MUST undertake firetraining annually.
Person Specification
Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience of Primary Care.
- Minimum 2 years Managerial experience.
- Qualification in Customer Service.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn.
- Full driving licence.
- Key skills include experience with NHS systems and processes, team management, HR and IT competence using healthcare IT systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Salary: Starting salary is £27885 per annum.
