Role Summary
We are looking for an Analyst to join the Marex Solutions Strategy Team in London. The role sits at the intersection of financial markets, technology, and product innovation. This person will help build the tools, workflows, dashboards, data connections, and AI-enabled market intelligence systems for the Strategy and Trading desks. The role also involves producing thematic trade ideas and dashboards across asset classes (equities, fixed income, FX, crypto and commodities). AI tooling is an important part of the role, including AI agents, automation, and modern data tools. The role also requires clear communication and project coordination with technology, AI, quant, and front-office teams. The ideal candidate is creative, curious, technically capable, and adventurous, with a strong interest in financial markets and a practical ability to turn ideas into working tools.
Responsibilities
- The Strategy Innovation Analyst / Associate will support the Strategy Team by helping build and improve the tools, systems, market intelligence, and trade ideas used across the desk.
- Internal Tooling & Desk Infrastructure: Build and maintain internal tools that help the strategy team, traders, structurers, sales, and COO-related teams work faster and more effectively.
- Data Plumbing, Pricing Inputs & Connectivity: Help connect data sources, prices, market feeds, files, APIs, and internal outputs into clean, usable workflows. Support the practical backend work needed to make dashboards and tools reliable.
- Dashboards, Visual Analytics & Market Monitoring: Design and build dashboards, visual tools, and market monitors covering equity themes, macro themes, commodities, rates, volatility, positioning, flows, and other relevant market topics.
- Automation & Workflow Improvement: Identify manual or repetitive processes and help automate them through scripts, templates, pipelines, APIs, or lightweight applications.
- AI & Modern Technology Tooling: Use AI tools, LLMs, agents, and modern data techniques to improve research, market monitoring, internal productivity, idea generation, and information retrieval.
- Thematic Market Projects: Support market-driven projects such as equity trade idea dashboards, thematic investment screens, El Nino / weather impact analysis, commodity dashboards, cross-asset monitors, and other strategy-led initiatives.
- Collaboration with Front Office Teams: Work closely with traders, structurers, sales, strategy, and operational stakeholders to understand practical desk needs and turn them into usable tools.
- Creative Problem Solving: Bring new ideas, new technologies, and new approaches to the team. Test, prototype, iterate, and build in a pragmatic way.
Skills and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in any discipline, with evidence of analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and technical curiosity. Relevant fields may include finance, economics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, data science, design, or similar, but we are open to different backgrounds.
- Programming, Data & Automation: Some coding ability required, ideally in Python or a similar language. Experience building scripts, dashboards, data workflows, analytical tools, or automation processes. Familiarity with APIs, databases, data ingestion, data cleaning, and structured datasets.
- AI & Modern Tooling: Strong fluency with modern AI tools, including LLMs and AI-assisted workflows. Interest in applying AI to research, monitoring, text analysis, market intelligence, document processing, and internal productivity. Hands-on experience with AI agents, embeddings, NLP, or related tools would be helpful but is not required.
- Dashboards & Visual Analytics: Experience or interest in building dashboards and visual tools using platforms such as Plotly, Dash, Streamlit, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar. Strong visual judgement and attention to usability.
- Markets & Product Awareness: Interest in financial markets across one or more asset classes, including equities, rates, commodities, credit, FX, crypto, or volatility. Awareness of derivatives or structured products is helpful, but the role does not require pricing ownership.
- Experience & Communication: Suitable for an analyst level candidate. Experience may come from internships, academic projects, personal projects, coding projects, finance roles, research work, data analysis, or software development. Able to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative desk environment. London-based or willing to relocate to London.
