Role Summary
To assist in ensuring that the legal rights and obligations of the Marex Group are identified and documented, with a focus on supporting digital assets initiatives across various business desks. To help deal with urgent or ad hoc legal matters; to be responsible for organisation and retention of documents of the Group Legal department; to update policies and procedures of the Group Legal department.
Responsibilities
- Commercial and Trading Agreements
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements with digital assets venues, exchanges, custodians and digital assets liquidity providers, including various membership agreements, terms of service, custody agreements, prime brokerage agreements, platform agreements.
- Drafting and negotiating various trading documentation widely used in the digital assets space, (e.g., Terms of Business, SPA, ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, MLA and others).
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and external counterparties to drive negotiations and execution, including updating and maintaining appropriate records for the negotiation lifecycle.
- Client Documentation and Product Support
- Drafting and maintaining client‐facing documentation for digital asset products and services.
- Reviewing marketing materials and advising on financial promotions rules, in particular in the digital assets space.
- Providing legal support for the development and launch of new digital assets‐related products and offerings.
- Regulatory and Licensing
- Monitor and advise on UK and global regulatory developments affecting the Marex Group in the digital assets space.
- Support licensing applications and ongoing regulatory obligations.
- Conduct cross‐border legal assessments for digital asset activities and products.
- General and Advisory
- Participating in (and coordinating as necessary) various projects, including regulatory, jurisdictional and policy initiatives.
- Assisting with the broader review, negotiation and execution of various legal agreements in accordance with the Group Legal department policies.
- Assisting other team members in the Group Legal department and the Group Compliance department when required.
- Support disputes and other legal matters where required.
- Maintain legal templates, policies and document management practices.
- Risk and Governance
- Ensuring compliance with the company's regulatory requirements under the FCA.
- Adhering to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company‐determined parameters are complied with.
- Role‐model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
- At all times complying with the FCA's Code of Conduct.
- Fully aware of and adhering to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.

Competencies, Skills and Experience

- Experience working in a regulated financial services environment with a good knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
- Exposure to, or a strong interest in, the digital assets space, with an understanding (or willingness to develop an understanding) of key concepts such as wallet infrastructure, custody models, blockchain mechanics, stablecoins and staking, and how these may translate into legal and regulatory risk.
- Experience advising on, or supporting, crypto‐related products, services, or counterparties (e.g. exchanges, custodians, liquidity providers) would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Familiarity with financial instruments, particularly derivatives and/or structured products, and an appreciation of how these may intersect with digital asset markets (or a strong willingness to build this knowledge).
- Skills and Experience
