We are seeking a proactive and client-focused individual to join our FX Post-Trade Operations team. This role sits at the intersection of operations and client service, ensuring clients receive accurate, timely confirmations and support throughout the trade lifecycle. The successful candidate will act as a trusted point of contact for clients, identifying and resolving potential issues before they escalate, while maintaining strong operational discipline around confirmations, settlements, and beneficiary management.
The ideal candidate combines strong client relationship skills with operational rigour, taking a proactive, “no surprises” approach to service. This role offers broad exposure to the FX trade lifecycle and close collaboration with clients, Front Office, Middle Office, and Technology.
Responsibilities:
- Client Service & Relationship Management
- Act as a first point of contact for client queries, anticipating and addressing potential issues before they arise rather than reacting after the fact.
- Demonstrate a client-obsessed approach, prioritising client experience and satisfaction in every interaction, both operational and relational.
- Confidently manage difficult or sensitive conversations with clients, including around settlement failures, discrepancies, delays, or disputed trade details.
- Manage and triage the client service inbox, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-prioritised responses to all client queries.
- Act as an escalation point for complex or unresolved client issues, coordinating across internal teams to reach resolution.
- Trade Lifecycle & Confirmation Management
- Prepare and distribute trade confirmations and mark-to-market (M2M) statements accurately and within agreed timeframes.
- Apply strong understanding of confirmation matching processes to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Settlements & Payments
- Send proactive settlement reminder communications to clients ahead of key dates to reduce failed or delayed settlements.
- Apply a strong working knowledge of the payments lifecycle to identify risk points and ensure smooth end-to-end transaction flow.
- Investigate and resolve settlement breaks and failed payments, liaising with counterparties, custodians, and internal teams as required.
- Manage client beneficiary details, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standing settlement instruction (SSI) controls.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Work closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Technology, and external counterparties to resolve breaks and mitigate operational risk.
- Identify opportunities to enhance straight-through processing (STP) and reduce manual intervention.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and control enhancements.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle challenging conversations confidently.
- Sound understanding of FX post-trade operations, including confirmations, settlements, and the payments lifecycle.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating breaks, discrepancies, and client queries.
- Organisational skills to manage a high volume of client queries and time-sensitive tasks.
- Risk awareness, with the judgement to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
- Prior experience in FX or multi-asset post-trade operations, client service, or middle office within financial services.
- Familiarity with trade confirmations, settlements, and reconciliation processes.
Competencies:
- Client Focus: Places client outcomes at the centre of decision-making; builds trust through reliability and clear communication.
- Proactivity: Anticipates issues and acts ahead of them, rather than waiting to react.
- Resilience & Composure: Stays calm and professional under pressure, particularly in difficult or sensitive client conversations.
- Attention to Detail: Maintains high accuracy in operational tasks where small errors can have significant downstream impact.
- Ownership & Accountability: Takes responsibility for issues through to resolution, escalating appropriately when needed.
- Collaboration: Works effectively across teams and functions to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Adaptability: Manages competing priorities and shifting demands in a fast-paced environment.
