We have an exciting opportunity to join our Risk department as VP Risk Governance, a newly created role in response to significant growth at Marex. The role holder will be instrumental for delivering effective and efficient risk governance, working across the breadth of Group risk globally. They will be instrumental in the delivery of a variety of risk governance initiatives ensuring they are scalable by design and implemented sustainably and consistently. Given the strategic nature of the role in a fast-growing organisation, the individual will be proactive, inquisitive and a self-starter. This work will require extensive engagement with stakeholders both within Risk and the wider Departments across multiple regions.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design and implementation of risk governance processes across Marex Group and its regions.
- Support the Project management of strategic materials for quarterly Group risk committee meetings.
- Support ad-hoc strategic initiatives across the organisation prioritising risk governance.
- Preparation of ad-hoc risk presentations for Internal or external reporting e.g. Investor disclosures, Financial Statement.
- Support gatekeeping for all external requests for information impacting the Risk department e.g. Project manage general risk requests from Regulators and Exchanges, standardise and improve quality of responses over time on risk governance matters.
- Explain approach to risk governance to all interested parties.
- Lead on Group Risk and wider stakeholders communication of information.
- Own the reporting and maintenance of Group metrics and related Key Risk Indicators, including other Group dashboards e.g. Conduct.
- Support and facilitate the automation of metrics reporting and data gathering processes through effective use of the Department GRC tool; Support and facilitate user training and communication.
- Participate in discussions with key stakeholders on effective articulation of risk appetite helping to design and develop appropriate risk appetite statements, their supporting metrics and any other relevant indicators.
- Accountable for the maintenance of the internal approach for policy making and document development, including communication to key authors.
- Regular oversight and management of the risk intranet pages, from layout creation to data visualisation ensuring the Risk Department’s documents on the intranet are up to date.
- Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the FCA.
- Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
- Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
- At all times complying with the FCA’s Code of Conduct.
- To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.
- To report any breaches of policy to Compliance and/or your supervisor as required.
- To escalate risk events immediately.
- To provide input to risk management processes, as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Computer literacy, with focus on Office – PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to focus on the right issues and work in a fast-growing environment.
- Ability and appetite to drive change and contribute to the sustainable growth of the Risk Department.
- Experience in drafting policies, procedures, and disclosures.
- Ownership of given tasks and ensuring timely delivery, project management and report writing experience.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
- Be able to gather, verify and analyse information to formulate views/conclusions.
- Soft skills including teamwork, collaboration, inclusiveness, flexibility, proactiveness, and motivation.
- Good understanding of commodities and financial markets.
- Good understanding of risk and controls, governance, risk framework and policies.
- Prior working experience on risk appetite concepts would be highly advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to communicate and engage effectively at all levels of the organisations.
- A curious, inquisitive mindset and enthusiasm for problem-solving.
- Strong experience in building positive and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as, Risk department.
- Strategic collaborator with insight and agility, able to anticipate future challenges, ensuring operational effectiveness.
