This company seeks a driven, motivated and talented junior mechanical design engineer to join their project team working on the design and development of world class machines for the agricultural and construction markets. The role will involve producing mechanical designs for a variety of machine parts and systems which means you could get exposure to all aspects of the machine (e.g. hydraulic systems, suspension, chassis and structural design, engine integration and packaging of powertrain systems, cooling, hoses, routings etc.). Mechanical design engineers with a versatile array of mechanical engineering knowledge and a good practical approach to design and development would be required.
Skills / Knowledge Required:
- A good degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. mechanical / agricultural / construction equipment engineering).
- Industry experience coupled with a BTEC/Diploma, NVQ, HNC/HND, apprenticeships level 4 + will also be appropriate.
- Proven experience of high-end 3D solid modelling CAD software (e.g. Siemens NX, Solidworks, Creo, Catia or similar).
- Practical, hands on engineering skills would be ideal - ability to build, fabricate and test prototypes.
- Good understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes and how products are made and assembled – bending, welding, steel fabrication, mounting, brackets, laser cutting etc.
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude with a passion for engineering and mechanical design.
- Suitable project experience would be ideal (e.g. relevant internships, placement years or post-graduation industry experience) within some of the following:
- Construction vehicles or agricultural machinery (yellow goods).
- Trucks, military vehicles, rolling stock or Special vehicles (involving hydraulics or similar).
- Heavy fabricated systems – material handling systems, cranes, mining or process equipment.
- Capital equipment, hydraulic lifting platforms and large machinery.
Further training and personal development opportunities are promoted within this company. They are commutable from Uttoxeter, Derby, Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Burton upon Trent, Ashbourne etc but there may also be some support with relocation.
