Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer Warwickshire, UK Β£70-85k + bonus + benefits Note: This role requires specialist experience of the design and development of power converters (transformers / inductors) β ideally 50 -200 kW β including magnetics. This role requires extensive experience of power electronics design specifically the design of power conversion products. This will involve the design of magnetic components of transformers / inductors. Engineers should be able to take products through the design lifecycle β from concept to series production. It would ideally suit a principal electronics engineer but the company is open to considering a senior engineer with evident technical leadership experience too. Key elements: Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer. * Power electronics design and development (isolated power converters β high power) * Experience with a variety of power converter topologies (e.g. Flyback converter, Forward converter, Half-bridge / Full-bridge, Push-pull converter, Resonant) and their application. * Experience of the design of high-power electronic converters for automotive / electric vehicle applications would be great. Otherwise, other applications such as clean energy, wind energy, solar, grid / intelligent grid, rail, industrial, etc. * Technical leadership experience and customer facing capability More: Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer. The role could suit an engineer with at least 8-10 years of relevant post-academic industry experience or more. Candidates should have: * Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers) * Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (isolated power converters β high power, ideally 50 -200 kW β including magnetics) * Experience of tools such as Altium, Simscape & PLECS for electronics design and simulation. The company is involved with the design of electric drivetrain systems for e-mobility and clean energy applications (e.g. automotive electric vehicle etc). Candidates with experience of designing power converters for such applications would be preferred but this is not essential. Required experience / skills: Senior / Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer * Degree / masterβs degree in electrical, electronic engineering, etc. * Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (isolated power converters β high power, ideally 50 -200 kW β including magnetics) * Experience of leading projects and technically leading would be required. * Experience of the design of high-power electronic converters for automotive / electric vehicle applications would be great. Otherwise, other applications such as clean energy, wind energy, solar, grid / intelligent grid, rail, industrial, etc. * Experience with a variety of power converter topologies (e.g. Flyback converter, Forward converter, Half-bridge / Full-bridge, Push-pull converter, Resonant) and their application. * Evidence of taking relevant designs from blank sheet / concept through to series production. * Able to work in a fast-paced, customer centric environment. * Experience of thermal management / cooling of power electronics systems would be great.
