This role would suit a skilled test development engineer with experience in the design and development of test systems, running tests and the analysis & documentation of test data for electromechanical automotive components.
This test development engineer role offers the chance to join a growing technology company developing advanced electromechanical and electric motor / electric drive systems for electric vehicles and industrial applications. They seek an experienced test development engineer with experience that includes:
- Definition, development, planning and implementation of automotive tests for either electric motors, brakes, gears, infotainment/instrument cluster, drives etc.
- The development of test requirements in conjunction with DVP and FMEAs.
- Setting up of test cells using LabVIEW, ensuring appropriate test equipment is available & building test rigs and execution of the tests.
- Analysis of test data and feeding back into the product development process.
- Use of 8D or similar problem solving and failure resolution tools.
Skills / Knowledge required - Test Development Engineer
- The ideal candidate would be a degree qualified test engineer or development engineer that has gained direct experience of the test development of electric motors for use within the electric vehicle, automotive, industrial control, rail/rolling stock or aerospace industry.
- Experience with other automotive component testing would also be suitable – brakes, gears, drives/EDU, infotainment, instrument clusters, HVAC etc.
- A degree or similar in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical/electronic engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, etc).
- Strong working knowledge of LabVIEW is required.
- Definition, development, planning and implementation of tests in conjunction with DVP and FMEAs.
- Leading the set-up of test cells and execution of the tests, analysis of test data, use of 8D or similar problem solving and failure resolution tools.
- Broad test experience across Environmental, Shock, Vibration, Thermal, Durability, EMC etc ideally on a Dyno test system would be ideal.
- Relevant experience in the development of automated test systems using MatLab/Simulink would be beneficial.
- Good organisational, planning and communication skills.
- Good electrical engineering understanding (theory or practical).
