Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an Instrumentation Calibration Engineer to support diesel and hydrogen engine test and development programmes.
This role will join a professional and dynamic team, supporting the delivery and maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025 standards through the development and implementation of robust calibration practices.
Role Purpose:
- Working as part of a fast-paced, integrated engineering team, this is a hands-on role focused on the calibration and validation of engine development laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- The primary objective is to ensure full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 through effective internal calibration, validation activities, audit support and continuous improvement of calibration systems and processes.
- A strong working understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 is essential, alongside demonstrable experience in calibrating and validating instrumentation used in engine or similar test environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform internal calibration and validation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation used for engine testing.
- Coordinate and host external calibration providers, ensuring all work meets required standards.
- Ensure all servicing, calibration and validation activities are completed within planned timescales.
- Create, maintain and control all associated calibration and quality documentation.
- Support the introduction of new equipment, ensuring validation, compliance and documentation are in place.
- Conduct internal audits and support third-party assessments.
- Assist with operator training related to calibration practices and quality systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the calibration and laboratory quality processes.
About You:
- Minimum of three yearsβ relevant experience in a calibration, quality or laboratory environment.
- Strong working knowledge and practical experience operating within ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience calibrating and validating instrumentation used in relevant test environments such as flow (air, fuel, gas), temperature (PRT / thermocouples), pressure transducers, speed gauges (frequency transducers), torque meters / flanges.
- Strong hands-on instrument calibration experience within engine test, powertrain, motors, hydraulic systems or machinery etc.
- Experience supporting audits and working with regulatory requirements.
- Strong documentation and quality system management skills.
- Professional, flexible and able to work autonomously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a technically demanding, fast-paced engineering environment.
