Job Description
Our client is an established UK supplier of specialist flooring products into commercial construction and refurbishment projects. Off the back of steady growth, they’re adding an Area Sales Manager to run the UK field territory (most of the work is in London).
You’ll take on a core of established accounts and grow them while opening up new ones, roughly a 50/50 split between account management and new business. The target is £500k a year, and average orders sit around £15k–£20k, which works out at two to three orders a month. Orders range from small refurb packages up to six-figure commercial office projects.
Most sales go through architects and specialist flooring contractors, with fit-out and main contractors on selected projects. Get in touch with Jack Knight ( jack@marcusknightley.co.uk ). I can share the company name and full product detail on a call.
You will
- Manage and grow existing accounts with specialist flooring contractors.
- Win new business with flooring, fit-out and main contractors.
- Build relationships with architects and designers to get products specified early, including delivering CPD presentations.
- Track projects from design through tender to order and keep an accurate pipeline in CRM.
- Produce quotations, follow up and negotiate through to order, then hand over to the operations team.
- Spend 3–4 days a week on the road visiting customers and sites, and represent the business at industry events.
Requirements
- Field sales or business development experience selling building products or interior fit-out products into construction.
- Track record working the specification chain – architects and designers as well as contractors.
- Comfortable owning a revenue target, a territory and your own diary.
- Able to read drawings and hold a technical conversation with contractors. Flooring or ceilings and partitions experience is a strong advantage but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence and happy to travel UK-wide, with most of the work in London.
- Company car
- Phone and laptop
- Pension and holiday allowance
- Full product training and scope to grow as the business expands
