Global financial institution based in the City of London is seeking a Server Engineer for a 6-month inside IR35 contract with scope for extension and/or conversion to permanent.
This is a fully remote (UK based) position (occasional team meet ups in the London office), offering a rate of £450 to £550 per day (inside IR35).
This role will involve working a weekly rotating shift pattern (7am-3pm, 9am-5pm, 10am-6pm).
Required Skills/Experience
- Good/Strong system administration experience within a Linux RedHat environment.
- A background in VMWare is preferred.
- Any experience of Windows server is a bonus.
- Proficiency with build, CI/CD systems and especially GIT.
- Previous experience with low latency systems and financial background.
- Scripting with Python and bash languages is a bonus.
- Prior experience with cloud environments desirable (AWS / GCP). Terraform experience is a bonus.
- Webserver technologies, nginx, NodeJS, JavaScript, Python, Tomcat.
- Packaging and maintaining software in an RPM based environment.
Job Overview
- The successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for the smooth running of all internal systems (Exchange platforms) and associated systems.
- Deployment and maintenance of Software/OS/hardware using systems and configuration management tools (RH Satellite, Ansible, etc.).
- Systems capacity planning; creating and maintaining a scalable system for Dev, QA, Test, and Production environments.
- Manage backups and archiving systems/scripts.
- Patching/patch plans and implementation.
- Manage monitoring systems such as SolarWinds / Nagios.
- Assist the internal 1st-line Linux support team where required.
- Supporting the platforms during market opening hours, troubleshooting operational issues, or assisting with upgrades.
- Assist the company’s Exchange Technology clients through the lifecycle of the implementation process:
- Initial specifications / RFP
- Installation/knowledge transfer / on-site support
- Integration with client\’s existing systems – work with their infrastructure teams as well as any projects.
- Provide Linux support and assistance to the DevOps team.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date documentation.
