About Marcura
Marcura is a global leader in maritime technology and operations, supporting nearly one‑third of the world’s seaborne commodity trade. Our trusted platforms which span software, data intelligence and payments sit at the centre of digital transformation across the maritime industry. We are now seeking a Senior Product Manager - Cards to join our high‑impact team and contribute to the success of one of the sector’s most forward‑looking organisations.
Purpose of role
Cards are a core part of how customers experience our product and how the business makes money. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the strategy, economics, and delivery of our cards proposition end‑to‑end. You’ll work closely with engineering, design, risk, and operations to improve how cards perform at scale — for customers and for the business. This is a role with real ownership, clear accountability, and measurable outcomes.
Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- Strong grounding in analytical thinking, systems design, or technical disciplines
- Formal product management training is beneficial but not required
Work Experience
- 5+ years total experience in product management or closely related roles
- 3+ years owning or significantly contributing to cards or payments products in a fintech, bank, or payments platform
- Experience working with card schemes (Visa / Mastercard), processors, and issuing partners
- Proven track record of shipping complex, regulated products in high‑scale environments
- Experience operating in cross‑functional product teams (engineering, design, data, ops, compliance)
Skills and Knowledge
- Cards & Economics: Strong end‑to‑end understanding of card issuing economics, including interchange, scheme fees, and processing costs. Experience improving unit economics through product decisions and trade‑offs. Comfortable balancing growth, acceptance, risk, and margin.
- Card Issuing & Regulation: Solid understanding of card issuing flows and lifecycle events. Working knowledge of Visa and Mastercard rules and how they affect product design. Familiarity with regulatory, safeguarding, and compliance requirements for card programmes.
- Product Leadership: Experience owning a complex product area with commercial responsibility. Ability to set a clear direction, prioritise effectively, and communicate decisions. Comfortable working with ambiguity and making informed trade‑offs.
- Execution & Data: Experience working closely with engineering on reliable, high‑volume systems. Strong delivery discipline in production and regulated environments. Confident using data and metrics to guide decisions and measure impact.
Nice to have
- Experience optimising interchange, pricing, or premium card propositions
- Hands‑on work with processors, programme managers, or scheme partners
- Experience improving card economics at scale or supporting other PMs
Job Responsibilities
This role owns one of the company’s most critical and commercially impactful product domains. You’ll lead the strategy, economics, and execution of our cards proposition end‑to‑end, shaping how customers spend, how the platform scales, and how the business generates sustainable revenue. It’s a senior product leadership role with real ownership, high visibility, and direct influence on customer outcomes and company performance.
- Own the cards domain end‑to‑end. Take responsibility for the cards product strategy, roadmap, and outcomes — from day‑to‑day reliability to longer‑term improvements in customer experience and unit economics.
- Turn problems into clear product decisions. Work from customer needs, operational realities, and commercial constraints to define problems clearly, explore options, and make trade‑offs that balance experience, risk, cost, and scale.
- Partner closely with engineering. Work with engineers to design and deliver card functionality that is resilient, scalable, and easy to operate. Break complex initiatives into small, testable changes that can be shipped safely.
- Improve how cards perform at scale. Use data to identify and prioritise improvements across authorisation rates, usage, failures, disputes, fraud, and cost. Focus on steady, measurable gains rather than big‑bang releases.
- Work across risk, compliance, and operations. Collaborate with risk, compliance, and operations teams to ensure card products meet regulatory and scheme requirements, and that controls are proportionate and well understood.
- Own outcomes in production. Take responsibility for how the cards product behaves in the real world. Support incident response, learn from issues, and drive changes that reduce repeat problems over time.
- Set direction and priorities. Define clear goals and success measures for the cards domain. Maintain a roadmap that reflects customer impact, business value, and delivery capacity — and update it as you learn.
- Be a trusted point of reference. Act as a knowledgeable, pragmatic voice on cards across the company, helping teams understand constraints, trade‑offs, and opportunities without over‑complicating things.
What Success Looks Like
- Clear and compelling product vision and strategy with measurable outcomes
- Measurable commercial impact helping grow Martrust’s scale and profitability
- Card products that are reliable, scalable, and trusted by corporates and crew
- Strong cross‑functional alignment and predictable delivery
- Continuous improvement of card usage, performance, and customer experience
