The Opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially driven Senior Ecommerce Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of ecommerce trading and performance across the business. This is a true “second-in-command” role—working closely with the Owner, overseeing most of the ecommerce function, leading multiple teams, and driving sales, margin and operational performance.

The Role

As Senior Ecommerce Manager / Commercial Sales Manager, you will be responsible for maximising commercial performance across our websites and third-party platforms (Amazon, eBay, Etsy and others). You will own trading strategy, pricing, promotions and forecasting, ensuring we deliver growth in revenue and profit while maintaining stock efficiency. You will also be responsible for managing and developing key teams across the business, including:

  • Customer Service leadership (service levels, quality and process improvement)
  • Advertising / marketplace support staff (performance, reporting, optimisation)
  • General Ecommerce / Trading Executives (planning, execution and daily trading)

This role suits a confident, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced ecommerce environment and enjoys driving improvements across both commercial performance and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Business Management
    • Act as the Owner’s right-hand person and take responsibility for the day-to-day management of ecommerce operations.
    • Lead and develop cross-functional teams including Customer Service, Advertising support staff and Ecommerce Executives.
    • Create structure, accountability and performance reporting across the ecommerce department.
    • Build scalable processes and drive continuous improvement across systems, people and performance.
    • Ensure clear communication, prioritisation and delivery of trading actions across all channels.
  • Trading, Planning & Forecasting
    • Drive sales performance across multiple ecommerce sales channels (Website, Amazon, eBay, Etsy etc.).
    • Deliver growth targets, including increasing website contribution to 20% of total company sales.
    • Develop trading strategies to achieve revenue, margin, stock-turnover and clearance targets.
    • Analyse commercial performance to support a 25% margin across all ranges.
    • Own the annual trading calendar and manage monthly cross-channel trading plans.
    • Lead daily trading decisions and forecasting activity across all platforms.
    • Plan product launches and promotional activity by month, forecasting stock requirements across channels.
    • Work closely with the wider marketing team to align ecommerce activity with brand and campaign strategy.
    • Maintain, improve and optimise promotional mechanics and pricing guidelines.
    • Monitor channel performance and report trends, risks and opportunities to the Owner.
  • Marketplace & Website Performance
    • Optimise product listings and trading performance across Amazon and all third-party retailers.
    • Ensure pricing and promotions are competitive, profitable and aligned to strategy.
    • Identify opportunities to improve conversion rate, AOV and retention across the DTC website.
    • Collaborate with Advertising staff to ensure marketplace and paid activity supports trading priorities.
    • Drive consistent standards across content quality, merchandising and promotional execution.
  • Stock Management & Buying
    • Forecast sales potential and stock requirements using historic trading data.
    • Recommend initial buy levels for new product launches and seasonal activity.
    • Forecast and plan buying requirements for core and repeat lines to maintain availability.
    • Monitor clearance and discontinued stock, feeding requirements into the promotional plan.
    • Manage stock and purchasing for key third-party ranges, ensuring availability and profitability.
    • Balance stock risk against trading opportunity to improve cash flow and reduce stock pressure.
  • Line Management
    • Direct line management of a team of Ecommerce Executives, with responsibility for coaching, development and performance.
    • Provide leadership and structure across the wider ecommerce function, including Customer Service and Advertising support teams.
    • Set clear KPIs, deliver regular 1:1s, and ensure high standards of execution and accountability.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for an adaptable, commercially minded leader with a growth mindset—someone who is always looking for ways to enhance, improve and redesign how things work. You’ll be comfortable managing multiple areas of the business and working closely with the Owner to drive results. Candidates will be considered from backgrounds in Ecommerce Trading, Marketplace Management, Commercial / Online Trading or Vendor Management, ideally within a fast-moving, product-led ecommerce business.

Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in an ecommerce trading/commercial role (multi-channel preferred).
  • Strong experience working across marketplaces.
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth, manage pricing/promotions and improve commercial performance.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and excellent Excel ability.
  • Strong commercial awareness and margin focus.
  • Previous line management experience and confidence leading teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to report clearly to senior leadership.

  • A senior leadership role with real ownership and influence as the 2nd in command.
  • Work directly with the Owner, shaping strategy and driving rapid commercial growth.
  • Scope to improve systems, process and performance across the ecommerce function.
  • Support from a diverse, welcoming marketing and ecommerce team.
