Are you a talented and creative pastry chef with a passion for quality, craftsmanship, and elegant presentation? Join Marcliffe pastry team and play a key role in one of Scotland’s most prestigious 5-star hotel kitchens. You’ll work as part of a close-knit, high-performing culinary team, producing refined desserts, pastries, breads, and afternoon teas for fine dining, events, and daily service — all delivered to the highest standard. This role reports to the Pastry Head Chef.

About the Role: As a Pastry Chef, you will:

  • Prepare and present breads, pastries, cakes, desserts, and afternoon tea items to fine-dining standards
  • Support menu development with ideas for seasonal and creative pastry offerings
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Chef, Sous Chefs, and wider kitchen team
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation across all pastry areas
  • Ensure mise en place is well organised and service runs smoothly
  • Monitor stock levels, support ordering, and minimise waste through effective rotation
  • Keep pastry sections clean, organised, and fully compliant with food safety regulations
  • Support and guide junior kitchen team members where required
  • Adapt to a variety of service styles, including à la carte dining, afternoon tea, weddings, and large-scale events
  • Contribute to a positive kitchen culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, and high standards

About You: Experience working in pastry within a quality-led kitchen, ideally in a fine-dining or 5-star hotel environment. Passion for pastry, baking, and creating exceptional guest experiences. Creative with strong attention to detail and presentation. Well organised, adaptable, and calm under pressure. A positive, proactive team player with good communication skills. Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP. Relevant culinary qualification preferred.
