Responsibilities and duties of the Commercial Manager role
- Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team / Director you will:
- Take full commercial responsibility for engineering projects from tender through to completion
- Ensure the successful commercial management of all projects
- Manage, lead and develop a small commercial team
- Liaise with and influence customers and subcontractors
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure successful and profitable outcomes
- Maintain strong financial control of projects from award through to completion
- Prepare and submit contract applications and variations throughout the contract lifecycle
- Assess and advise on contract terms and conditions for UK and international contracts
- Review and amend contractual terms for mechanical and electrical installation projects
- Ensure financial and contractual information is provided in a timely manner to support company accounts and cashflow forecasting
- Support the development and training of commercial staff
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Significant experience in commercial management
- Proven experience working within a project‑led engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of contract management and commercial delivery across engineering projects
- Experience managing and developing commercial teams
- Extensive experience using NEC 3/4 contracts (Options A, C & E)
