Responsibilities and duties of the Commercial Manager role

  • Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team / Director you will:
  • Take full commercial responsibility for engineering projects from tender through to completion
  • Ensure the successful commercial management of all projects
  • Manage, lead and develop a small commercial team
  • Liaise with and influence customers and subcontractors
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure successful and profitable outcomes
  • Maintain strong financial control of projects from award through to completion
  • Prepare and submit contract applications and variations throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Assess and advise on contract terms and conditions for UK and international contracts
  • Review and amend contractual terms for mechanical and electrical installation projects
  • Ensure financial and contractual information is provided in a timely manner to support company accounts and cashflow forecasting
  • Support the development and training of commercial staff

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Significant experience in commercial management
  • Proven experience working within a project‑led engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of contract management and commercial delivery across engineering projects
  • Experience managing and developing commercial teams
  • Extensive experience using NEC 3/4 contracts (Options A, C & E)
