A forward-thinking and well-resourced secondary school in York is seeking a skilled and reliable Design & Technology Technician to join the department for an immediate start. About the Role
As the DT Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Design & Technology department. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, maintain equipment, and ensure that all workshop areas are safe, organised, and fully functional for student use. The role supports learning across Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics and Engineering, depending on school specialisms.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing materials, tools and machinery for practical lessons
- Maintaining workshop equipment and organising repair schedules
- Supporting health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and COSHH procedures
- Managing stock levels and placing orders for materials and consumables
- Supporting students during practical lessons when required
- Ensuring all workspaces are clean, organised and ready for use
