A well-established Secondary School in York is seeking a dependable and hardworking Caretaker to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school site is maintained to a high standard, supporting both the day-to-day operation of the school and the wider learning environment.

Working closely with the Site Supervisor and Premises Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Opening and locking the school
  • Carrying out routine inspections
  • Completing minor repairs across classrooms, offices and communal areas
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests
  • Maintaining external areas
  • Carrying out routine decorating and maintenance tasks
  • Moving furniture and equipment
  • Assisting with deliveries
  • Preparing classrooms for examinations, assemblies, parents' evenings and other school events
  • Monitoring site security
  • Carrying out basic health and safety checks

The successful candidate will have good practical maintenance skills, excellent organisational abilities and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards across the school site.
