Attendance Officer
A highly regarded Independent School in York is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who understands the important role attendance plays in student achievement, wellbeing and safeguarding. The successful candidate will work closely with students, parents, pastoral leaders and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and punctuality across the school.
You will be responsible for monitoring daily attendance, carrying out first-day absence procedures, maintaining accurate attendance records and analysing attendance data to identify trends and areas requiring intervention. You will prepare attendance reports for senior leaders, support attendance meetings with families and contribute to strategies designed to improve attendance outcomes.
The role also includes maintaining accurate records using the school's management information system, ensuring statutory attendance procedures are followed and supporting safeguarding processes where attendance concerns may indicate wider welfare needs.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities and a professional approach when working with students, parents and external agencies. You will be committed to supporting every student in achieving their full potential through regular school attendance.
