Psychology Teacher | Sixth Form Academy | Worcester

CORE PURPOSE

We are seeking an inspiring, knowledgeable, and ambitious Psychology Teacher to deliver outstanding Key Stage 5 A-Level Psychology across a forward-thinking sixth form academy hub in Worcester. Working closely with the Head of Social Sciences, the successful candidate will engage post-16 students in biological psychology, cognitive processes, social influence, and research methods, fostering analytical rigor and preparing learners for higher education in psychological and behavioral sciences.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

• A-Level Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach dynamic theoretical and empirical Psychology lessons across Key Stage 5 (AQA/OCR A-Level specifications), covering core domains such as psychopathology, memory, biopsychology, and research methods.

• Empirical & Statistical Guidance: Train students in psychological research methodologies, quantitative/qualitative data analysis, statistical testing, and ethical considerations in behavioral research.

• Exam Preparation & Moderation: Systematically track student progress through regular essay marking, exam-style practice, and mock assessments, delivering targeted academic interventions where needed.

• University & Career Mentorship: Guide students through UCAS applications, support Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs) in psychology-related topics, and mentor applicants for competitive university degrees.

• Pastoral & Academy Engagement: Serve as a dedicated Post-16 Form Tutor, supporting students with academic mentoring, personal development, and progression planning.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Psychology or a closely related social science discipline. Confident Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced A-Level practitioners are equally encouraged to apply.

• Experience: Proven track record of teaching Psychology at Key Stage 5 / A-Level within a secondary school, sixth form, or college environment.

• Skills: Deep subject knowledge across core A-Level psychology modules, strong understanding of research design and statistics, excellent academic essay moderation skills, and the ability to inspire critical thinking in young adults.
