Premises Manager

A successful Secondary School in Worcester is seeking an experienced Premises Manager to lead the management of its buildings and grounds on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive facilities professional who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming school environment. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring that all buildings, outdoor spaces and facilities remain well maintained and fully compliant with current health and safety legislation.

Working closely with the Headteacher and School Business Manager, you will manage the premises team, oversee planned preventative maintenance, coordinate reactive repairs and supervise external contractors. You will ensure statutory inspections, servicing schedules and compliance checks are completed on time while maintaining accurate records across all areas of site management.

The role includes monitoring maintenance budgets, coordinating refurbishment projects, preparing facilities for examinations, school productions and community events, managing cleaning standards and identifying opportunities to improve the school environment through long-term maintenance planning.

You will also oversee site security, monitor alarm systems, manage key holding arrangements and ensure all staff and contractors adhere to the school's health and safety procedures.

The successful candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, strong organisational abilities and previous experience managing premises within a school or similar environment.

Requirements

  • Previous Premises or Facilities Management experience

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation

  • Experience managing contractors and maintenance programmes

  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills

  • Good practical maintenance knowledge

  • Budget management experience desirable

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment
