Design & Technology Teacher Role in a Rural Secondary School
A welcoming and ambitious Rural Secondary School in Worcestershire is seeking to appoint a creative and committed Design & Technology Teacher to join its successful Technology department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop creativity, technical knowledge, and practical workshop skills.
Students study an exciting curriculum that includes Product Design, Resistant Materials, engineering principles, sustainable design, and modern manufacturing techniques. You will guide learners through every stage of the design process, encouraging them to research, prototype, manufacture, and evaluate innovative products while developing confidence in practical and theoretical skills.
The role also offers opportunities to contribute to STEM projects, curriculum development, extracurricular clubs, and design competitions that enrich students' learning beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design & Technology qualifications
Develop students' creativity, technical understanding, and manufacturing skills
Maintain excellent health and safety standards within workshops
Assess student progress and provide constructive, high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental improvement
Support STEM initiatives, enrichment activities, and design competitions

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Product Design, Resistant Materials, or Engineering
Excellent classroom and workshop management skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Design & Technology
Experience using CAD/CAM technologies and digital manufacturing equipment
Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment and extracurricular activities
A proven track record of securing excellent student outcomes
