Premises Manager

An excellent Secondary Academy in Wolverhampton is seeking a professional and highly organised Premises Manager to join their experienced operations and estate management team. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day operational leadership across the estate and assist senior leaders, the school business manager, and wider support teams. Responsibilities will include maintaining site infrastructure records, updating school health and safety tracking systems, managing departmental budgets, overseeing capital works projects, and coordinating external contractor service level agreements. You will also manage the rotas, training, and daily duties of the on-site caretaking and cleaning teams.

You will support communication with external agencies, safety inspectors, and local community groups utilizing the facilities, ensuring that all building operations are handled professionally and confidently at all times. Strong organisational skills are essential, as the role requires the ability to prioritise complex asset management tasks effectively and manage multiple statutory responsibilities within a busy secondary school environment.

The school is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and able to analyze data tracking databases, energy metrics, and compliance logs efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important, alongside confidence in leading a dedicated site team.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in school premises management, contract management, or senior facilities operations

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Good IT and data management skills (experience with compliance tracking software is advantageous)

  • Professional and proactive approach to health and safety (IOSH/NEBOSH qualification preferred)

  • Ability to work effectively and lead teams in a busy environment
