An excellent school in Wolverhampton is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical professional who can support teachers and students, prepare resources and help maintain a safe, well-organised workshop environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support across the DT department, ensuring classrooms and workshops are fully prepared for lessons. You will work closely with teaching staff and assist students during practical activities, helping them use tools, equipment and materials safely and effectively.
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing tools, materials and equipment for practical lessons.

Supporting teachers and students during workshop activities.

Maintaining and organising machinery, tools and equipment.

Checking equipment is safe and suitable for use.

Managing stock levels and ordering materials when required.

Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs where appropriate.

Keeping workshops clean, organised and compliant with health and safety requirements.

Supporting the wider DT department with practical and technical tasks.
What We’re Looking For

Previous experience as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician or in a relevant practical role.

Strong practical knowledge of tools, machinery and workshop equipment.

Good understanding of health and safety procedures.

Excellent organisation and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and support teaching staff effectively.

A proactive, reliable and flexible approach.

Experience within an education setting would be advantageous.
