Building strong relationships with families can transform a child's education. An Outstanding primary school in Wokingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Attendance & Family Liaison Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and working closely with families to improve attendance, wellbeing and engagement. As a key member of the school's pastoral team, you'll help ensure every pupil is given the best possible opportunity to thrive by promoting positive attendance and strengthening home-school relationships.

The Role

Working closely with the Headteacher and pastoral team, you'll help develop a positive culture around attendance while providing support to pupils and their families. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring attendance and following up on pupil absences
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers to improve attendance and punctuality
  • Supporting children and families where barriers to attendance have been identified
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS
  • Working alongside safeguarding and pastoral staff to provide appropriate support
  • Liaising with external agencies where required
  • Producing attendance reports and contributing to attendance improvement initiatives
