Hospitality & Catering Teacher Role in a Thriving Secondary School

A Thriving Secondary School in Wigan is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled Hospitality & Catering Teacher to join its successful Design and Technology faculty from September. About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Hospitality & Catering across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons that develop students' culinary skills, nutritional knowledge, food safety awareness, and understanding of the hospitality industry.

You will inspire students to develop confidence in food preparation, menu planning, customer service, and kitchen management while preparing them for GCSE and vocational qualifications. The department also provides opportunities for enrichment through cooking competitions, enterprise projects, industry partnerships, and catering events.

Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who are passionate about delivering an engaging and industry-relevant curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Hospitality & Catering across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and vocational qualifications

  • Maintain a safe and organised food technology environment

  • Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support catering clubs, competitions, and enrichment activities

  • Inspire students to develop valuable life and career skills

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Hospitality & Catering or Food Technology at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong practical and theoretical subject knowledge

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching KS5 or vocational Hospitality & Catering qualifications

  • Industry experience within hospitality or catering

  • Experience leading extracurricular cooking or enterprise activities

  • A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
