Role Overview

The school is seeking a dedicated Welfare Officer who will play a key role in supporting the physical and emotional wellbeing of students. The successful candidate will ensure that students receive appropriate care and support throughout the school day, helping to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line pastoral support for students experiencing wellbeing or personal challenges
  • Manage the school’s medical room and respond to student health needs
  • Maintain accurate welfare and medical records for students
  • Administer first aid where required and coordinate responses to minor injuries or illness
  • Liaise with parents and guardians regarding student welfare concerns
  • Work closely with safeguarding leads to ensure that concerns are appropriately recorded and addressed
  • Support attendance monitoring by following up with families where necessary
  • Assist with the development of wellbeing initiatives within the school
  • Support students returning to school following illness or absence
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes and reporting systems
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral leaders and teaching staff
  • Ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting young people and creating a safe school environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
