The Science Technician will prepare and clear practicals, maintain laboratory apparatus, manage chemical inventories and support health & safety compliance. Main duties
- Prepare materials, set up apparatus for practical lessons and ensure labs are cleared and tidy afterwards.
- Maintain and log consumables and chemicals, manage ordering and ensure safe, compliant storage.
- Support equipment maintenance, perform routine checks and log faults for repair with suppliers.
- Keep COSHH, risk-assessment and safety files up to date and assist with audit preparations.
- Support teachers with demonstrations and practical supervision when required, contributing to strong practical outcomes in Watford.
Person specification
- Previous science technician or laboratory-support experience, with solid practical skills.
- Knowledgeable about COSHH, PPE, risk assessments and safe disposal procedures.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage inventories and competing requests across Watford.
